The account of Friday includes two titles for Norway and the seventh gold for Hungary.Sara Nordenstam and Ingvild Snildal won Norway’s sixth and seventh gold medals since the inauguration of LEN European Swimming Championships in 1926 on the fifth day of the 31st edition of the Continental Championships.

Snildal triumphed in the 100m butterfly in 58.04 seconds, Nordenstam in the 200m breaststroke in 2:26.91 minutes. “After a few hard weeks for our team I’m so happy that I won. I owe that also to Alexander Dale Oen, I learnt a lot from him”, said Nordenstam.

Gergo Kis clocked 7:49.46 minutes when he achieved the seventh gold medal for the host country in the men’s 800m freestyle in Debrecen. The Hungarians now boast seven gold, five silver, and five bronze medals and are clear leaders in the medal table. Germany (5-4-2) is in second position followed by Italy (4-4-3) in third. Filippo Magnini added Italy’s fourth gold medal in the 100m freestyle in 48.77 seconds. It was the fifth European title (in short and long course) for the 30-year-old Italian.
