Fatal Train Accident Near Csengele

One person died on Monday morning (18th October) in a train accident near Csengele, police reported on their website.

 

At eight o’clock in the morning, a train and a car collided in a railway crossing on the outskirts of Csengele. The driver of the car died at the scene, none of the passengers on the train were injured – reported police.hu.


The disaster management said on their website that firefighters had come from several municipalities to the accident.


Mávinform previously wrote on their Facebook page that the Kárász InterCity from Nyugati railway station to Szeged collided with the car; the light barrier was operating well, giving a red signal.


During the on-site investigation – trains are not allowed to run on the affected section for a longer period of time, therefore there are replacement buses between Kiskunfélegyháza and Kistelek. Trains on the Budapest-Cegléd-Szeged line may be delayed for up to half an hour due to the accident.
